Books are the result of someone knowledgeable and experienced sitting down to summarize and structure their knowledge and experience. As such, I consider it a great blessing to be able to pick the brains of people who have thought long and hard about one specific topic for years and then distilled it into a few hours of reading.
But reading is not enough! I have realized that I learn the most from books by also “processing” them afterwards. After finishing a book, I go through my many notes and highlights to summarize and synthesize what I’ve read, in order to absorb it into my own worldview and make sure I truly understand it. Most of my non-fiction reading also belongs to a deep-dive into a specific theme, where I do the same processing for the collection of books as a whole.
This collection is where I share my processing, in hopes that someone else might learn what I have learned.
